From Drop-Zone to Dream-Worthy Playroom

This project began with a large third-floor bonus room that was supposed to be a playroom for a brother and sister — but had instead become the ultimate household drop-off zone. The kids rarely played there (and definitely didn’t want to hang out alone!).

Recognizing its potential, we reimagined the room into a dynamic, multifunctional play space where each child could feel completely at home. The natural layout lent itself perfectly to redesigning the two distinct zones, giving both siblings their own personalized area while maintaining a cohesive overall design.

For her son, we created a sporty, movie-ready hangout complete with a mounted projector for movie-time, space for the pool table assembled, and organized storage for his favorite gear and games, which all makes for easy clean-up. For her daughter — a talented young artist — we designed a creative corner with room to draw, craft, play music, and cozy up with a good book complete with thoughtful storage for her supplies.

By the end, the once-forgotten space became a vibrant, functional playroom where both kids can do homework, play, and express their personalities. The best part? The night of the reveal, they loved it so much they asked if they could sleep there!
